The proper function of the brake rotor is essential to maximizing brake pad performance. The BASIC rotor utilizes proprietary heat processing technology and heat resistant paint to create a high quality rotor that performs as good as it looks. The BASIC can be used on the street and track by all types of drivers Material: FC Steel (Flake Graphite aka Gray Cast Iron) Heat Processing: Continuous hard driving generates high temperatures causing the rotor surface to expand and contract, causing the rotor to crack. When these cracks form, friction against the brake pad is reduced. Heat processing the rotor prevents this from occurring by stabilizing the material. This process also increases rotor life and gives it a characteristic gold color/hue.
