The J’s Racing Widebody Type GT kit was created to transform the Honda S2000's body into the ultimate GT Racing styled car. The objective of the widebody kit is not only to allow the driver to use a bigger wheel/tire combo, but also to be aerodynamically functional. From the front, sides, and undercarriage, the airflow is streamlined to minimize drag. Utilizing the full Type GT kit has proven to provide unparalleled stability due to the increase in downforce it provides.
The long nosed front bumper reduces drag significantly while also providing much needed downforce. Using the front fins of the bumper and front under splitter, the bumper is able to generate enough downforce to produce the grip you need. Adding to the overall function of the bumper, the fins on the bumper aid in getting rid of air turbulence while also allowing heat from the engine or brakes to not be retained.
The rear fender also has an outlet duct, which aids in correcting the air turbulence. Combined with the diffuser shaped rear bumper, superb downforce is generated which helps provide a faster cornering speed.
The kit is made using a cross mat finish. Conventional aero parts use a non woven form of fiberglass reinforced plastic (FRP), but J's instead opted for the cross mat finish for a couple reasons. For one, it enhances the strength of the kit significantly while also providing the light weight that FRP is known for. Not only that, the cross material also provides smoother air flow on the backside of the kit, showing just how much thought and design went into the overall kit.
